[Updated on (i)3rd Oct, (ii)15th Oct, 2012: If you notice that I have never posted any updates of this post, I mean, no updates of the flower buds, no photos of the final fruit..that's because all the new shoots and the flower buds were damaged by mites similar to what happened in the "Disaster!" posting. I am sorry for being silent about it for 8 months. To be frank, I was a bit embarrassed to admit that I have repeated the same mistake twice.
Let me copy and paste what I have wrote in my previous posting:
Fortunately, I have managed to put this mites problem under control since - but not before experimenting a series of trial-and-errors using many products and methods. Mites are very stubborn. We can only control them but not to eradicate completely. They just keep on coming. If you have the same problem with your grapevines, remember this, spraying alone is not enough - pray harder".]
So far, only the left cane (future permanent cordon/arm) is producing flower buds. About 10 new shoots in the right cane are not showing any positive sign - and if still no flower in 2 weeks time, I will perform spurs pruning on them!
The first two flower buds (Update 3Oct12: damaged by mites!)
2 tiny flower buds (Update 3Oct12: failed to develop into flower clusters!)
Another 2 emerging flower buds (Update 3Oct12: failed to develop into flower clusters!)
I wonder if this is a potential flower bud or not..let's wait and see in a week time (Update 3Oct12: No, it's not!)
