Surprise!!! (edited)

Surprise!!! (edited) ReadMeFirst! (for first time visitor)

I don't have much to say, just awesome! Remember, the previous pictures were taken about 2 weeks ago. And  here are how they have developed..

Updates on Isabella:

  • The Grape Fruit!  {TOTAL ISABELLA GRAPE FRUIT = 32 CLUSTERS}

Cluster 01

Cluster 02

  • Other Grape Clusters

    Four bunches of grape fruit

    • The Canopy development

Isabella canopy gets thicker (northern view). Few shoots have grown too long they went outbound, outside of my house fence!

    Southern view

Updates on IAC (after the Total Pruning):

    • New Shoots

New shoots+flowers growing from the three IAC's canes

    • The IAC flower clusters - they are all waiting to bloom..

The single-member-Panel-of-Judges therefore officially announce that the winner of the 'Competition' between Isabella and IAC fruiting (see the Major Pruning of the IAC! posting) is..

This year Jon Challenge Trophy goes to Isabella !!!

    Basis of judgement:
    • Isabella produced more fruit (32 grape fruit clusters)
    • IAC with less potential fruit (less than 30 flower clusters from 25 flower-bearing shoots)

I have also noticed that many buds in the IAC canes failed to break to produce new shoot. The potential buds turned whitish and dried up. One of them is shown below.

    Are these the reasons?

    • The Isabella has 2 canes only, shorter, and was not totally pruned (see Mini Pruning posting) as compared to the IAC
    • While the IAC was totally pruned (see Major Pruning of the IAC posting) has three and longer canes - meaning it has not been pruned enough?

Anyway, I am still thrilled and happy by the outcome, considering that this is their first year fruiting.
