The Isabella's grapefruit is due to ripe in 50 days.
Soon, I will have to protect them from the birds, obviously. And possibly, from other insects that might inject their eggs into the berries. If it was someone else's advice to wrap the Isabella's fruit clusters with plastic, I would have slapped him with the rotten grapefruit or force him to swallow them all!

But it was my mistake, fortunately.

Two days ago, after removing the ugly looking berries from the grape clusters, and being a naturally very energetic person when come to gardening, and can't find other things to do, something struck my mind telling me to wrap all the grapefruit clusters with plastic bag.

Before wrapping them all, I poked 16 small holes using red hot nail through the plastic bags. I knew it will be hot during the day so with the holes, the temperature will not rise over the limit. I did it before to my bitter gourd. So it must be okay with the grapefruit as well. Bad mistake!

This is what happened two days later...

"poem of stupidity"

exposed clusters to the direct sun light have rotten
baked inside the plastic oven
except those hidden
 under the leaves
spared from the over heating.

I can't put the blame on my stupidity
but I have no choice
I need to just close my eyes
and bang my head against the wall
a few times.

 (or below). Thanks a lot!
