Remember the Mini Pruning I did on the 20th Nov 2011?
I took several of the cuttings, wrapped with aluminium foil and kept them in the fridge until 17th Dec 2011 when my wife and son brought it to Sabah (they left Ipoh for holidays 1 week earlier than me).
In Sabah, we will normally put up at my sister's house in Kobusak, Penampang District of Sabah state. My sister, Mally took four cuttings and planted them into small pots on the 18th Dec 2011. Out of the four, three are woody brown canes and one is still green.
I distributed the remaining of the cuttings to my wife's relatives in Tenom (interior part of Sabah, about 3 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu) and to my close friends in Kota Kinabalu - Jojo, Webster, Dee Dee, Jeffery and Suriani. Good luck to them!
This morning, while waiting for my turn to take shower, I went out to my sister's mini garden and saw the green cutting with new leaves emerging from the bud! It's the first offspring of my grapevine, growing across the South China Sea! I didn't see it yesterday, so it must be, what a coincident, it's a Christmas offspring!!! Merry Christmas world!!

Lessons of the day:
- Green canes grow faster than the woody brown - another tip for amateur viticulturists!
- Cuttings can be 'preserved' by going dormant for a long period of time, months perhaps, when wrapped and kept in the fridge
Merry Christmas !!

It is really very kind of you to share your experience. I now live in singapore, but i plan to replicate your grape (=great) experience in Penang where I have a home - unfortunately the slope behind my house is steep, and soil is red.
